Being a resident of the Georgia foothills north of Atlanta, I consider myself lucky to live amongst some of the richest supplies of Southeastern hardwoods in the region. The woods I choose are from natural fallen trees and trees fallen victim of economic development. There seems to be a never ending supply of various oaks, cherry, persimmon, box elder, black walnut and other nut-bearing trees, beech, dogwood, maple, pear, apple, peach and on and on.
